Mosquito Coast announce Sweet Talking National Tour

Perth dream-popsters Mosquito Coast are heading out on a national tour taking in capital cities and visiting the Gold Coast and Newcastle for the first time, as well as a coveted support opening for Beach House at Perth Festival.

The tour is in support of a new single ‘Sweet Talking’ to be released on 18 January – the second single off their forthcoming LP, which was recorded in NYC with French producer Nicolas Vernhes (Animal Collective, Deerhunter, The War on Drugs, Moodoïd and Dirty Projectors).

The live show sees Naomi Robinson (vocals/guitar) and Conor Barton – who’s now up front on keys – joined by new drummer Oscar van Gass and Mitch Mack on bass.

“…Mosquito Coast have grown in leaps and bounds. Nostalgic, dreamy and with more of a rock influence, their new album sounds like a cracker.” X-Press Mag

“…They’ve evolved from a fledgling act winning Triple J’s Unearthed High, to a confident rock band owning the stage, and ultimately the night.” Grok

“Mosquito Coast’s new sound is impassioned, stronger than ever, and aching to be heard.” Isolated Nation

“Four members, three synths and Naomi Robinson's big voice give them a presence that they wouldn't have imagined at 17… Their enlarged sound, mix of backing vocals and a willingness to take sharp left turns in songs makes the show exciting.” The Music

Naomi and Conor were just 17-years-old when they caught the attention of fans and tastemakers after winning triple j’s Unearthed High 2015 and placing #101 in 2016’s Hottest 100 with their debut single ‘Call My Name’.

Following their big win the duo released two more singles - ‘Commotion’ and ‘Let’s Be Friends’, which were both added to triple j rotation. After the success of their break-out EP ‘Television Love’ they were nominated for ‘Most Popular Act’ in the WAM Awards 2016, and were also included in the ‘100 best discoveries of the last decade’ by triple j Unearthed.

In August 2018 they released ‘Skipping Girl’ off the new album and gave fans another taste of their LP via a Pilerats Live Session, performing a “charming new cut” titled ‘This Type of Love’ in a beach house in Mandurah, WA.

The new album will be released later in 2019.
